August 22, 2018 by temporarylogin
For those looking to explore some culinary excellence when on holiday, buying or renting in Ibiza, we have pulled together an insider’s guide to the best on offer; a selection of globally renowned restaurants, awarded for attention to detail and providing an experience for beyond food and drink. Enjoy.
Vi Cool by Sergi Arola
Vi Cool Ibiza – which is situated in on the beautiful rooftop of the hotel Aguas de Ibiza – is a concept from Michelin star chef Sergi Arola. The critically acclaimed menu offers a combination of traditional tapas presented in a modern way, such as ‘Bravas de Arola’ and deep-fried prawns with curry and mint. The ultra-chic restaurant is divided into two areas; one more informal, in which you can lounge and snack by the perfectly situated pool throughout the day, and another that offers the ultimate experience in luxurious dining. Ask the resident mixologist for cocktail recommendations and you will not be disappointed.
Heart by Albert and Ferran Adrià
Seamlessly bringing together gastronomy with art and music is brother duo Albert and Ferran Adrià, whose joint project in Heart Ibiza has been making waves since its launch in 2015. The kitsch terrace is comprised of ‘street food’ stands, while the upmarket restaurant offers cuisine experience like no other, with a tasting menu inclusive of king crab, grilled lobster, and cotton candy popcorn and chocolate cigars for desert. With a backdrop of live, immersive performances and views of the Dalt Vila, what more could you want from a night out?
Sublimotion by Paco Roncero
Located in the super cool Hard Rock Hotel, Sublimotion is a concept space created by Paco Roncero, a double Michelin star chef and molecular gastronomic extraordinaire. Intricately designed to stimulate the senses, the culinary ‘experience’ consists of a capsule room able to seat twelve, created with a hidden entrance and a tasting menu of more than twenty dishes. A one-of-a-kind experience, Roncero enlisted the help of illusionists, architects, choreographers and screen writers to ensure guests are immersed in a show like no other. Not for the fainthearted, this hotspot has been described as ‘The World’s Most Expensive Restaurant’ – so be sure to pack your credit card.
A key pioneer in the new ‘Meppon’ trend – a fusion of Mediterranean produce with Japanese cooking techniques – Zela has been attracting attention with dishes such as butterfish with white truffle, or Catalan-inspired beef “usuzukuri” with bread and tomato (pa amb tomàquet). For the less adventurous palettes, traditional tatakis and gyozas are on offer as well as favourites such as Waygu beef and caviar. Situated in the popular Marina Botafoch, the up and coming restaurant provides a perfect place in which to dine before heading out to some bars, or even a spot of late night dancing at Pacha.
Art deco haunt Tatel is one for the fashionistas, with bespoke interiors such as green walls, vintage red booths, and copper accessories throughout inspiring a ultra-cool 20’s vibe. Complete with views of the Mediterranean Sea, this multisensory fine dining experience titillates the palette with dishes such as Crispy Eggplant with Honey Sabayon, Grilled Lobster with Saffron Butter and Bluefin Tuna Tartar with fennel mayonnaise. Designed to reflect the rich Spanish culinary culture, expect a glitzy affair and be sure to wear your best attire.‹ Go back
